What is the Community Investment Fund?

The National Credit Union Foundation's (NCUF) Community Investment Fund (CIF) is a unique social investment oppurtunity for your credit union. When you invest in CIF, you become an integral partner in shaping the initiatives of the National Credit Union Foundation, as well as your state league or foundation.

The Community Investment Fund is supported by earnings from credit union investments. Of those earnings, 2% is donated to NCUF. (All earnings over 2% are returned to the credit union.) From the 2% donated to NCUF, half or 1% goes back to the individual states. The individual states can then use those funds for a variety of state and local CIF uses which include but are not limited to:

  • Access to affordable financial services
  • Financial education
  • Savings and asset accumulation
  • Small credit union development

To invest, please contact the corporate credit union in your state and inquire about making a CIF investment.
